Walk us through your background- Tell us more about you and your music

Music suddenly appeared into my life unintentionally, after the death of my younger brother who was the entertainer and artist out of us, he Died from collapsing from playing basketball. Therefore, I felt it was my duty to chase my brother dream, since he died playing a sport I loved.

I released my first song "Not Enough" going by the name Keemy Baby my Sophomore year of Highschool. I then released a song called "Dirty Diana" which got 121,355 downloads on Spinrilla all in my first attempt of making music, but didn’t pay it any mine because I was still in the mindset of going to the league and just doing it from the drive of my brother and having fun at the time.

Fast forward to 2019 my passion for music came back. In the awakening of life I wanted to be represented by a name that truly holds value and chose Hakeem Omari which is, my first and middle name. Ha’keem meaning “wise” and Omari meaning “God the highest”. In the month of May I released “Palm Trees In Da Ghetto” which signifies Hope.

What inspires you?

Not wanting to fail, the thought of not chasing my dreams and just letting it waste away makes me uncomfortable therefore it inspires me to achieve my dreams & Knowing I can motivate people around world.

What are some of the obstacles you've faced and how has it made you better?

Growing up in poverty section 8 having the bare minimum. Then dropping out of college after my sophomore year leaving behind a football scholarship. I was attending the University of West Georgia where Lil Nas X went, we were the same year. But leaving school is where I begin to discover myself , how I always wanted to it’s allowing me to refocus and chase dreams that I’m truly patient about. I never loved football, I just respected the game enough to get a scholarship at that time. But now, going back to school or overseas for basketball, I hope that my name from music can get me in the door of a top program; letting my skill show the rest while I’ll still be making music, doing YouTube, & spreading my clothing brand ByLawLove&Loyalty. Those are some of the things I begun to do since I left school as well.

What do you think makes your music different from other artist?

I try to be myself. I never go in the studio and say I wanna make a so and so type of song. I’m the artist where I don’t have a lane, I just express myself in the moment talking about real shit. One moment it might be a galactic vibe, trap vibe, Lofi vibe, poetry vibe God vibes. I just like being myself and once I get In the studio I can be as weird as I want. Knowing that it’s me & I like it “& if you don’t like it, I look at you like you’re the one that’s not cool not me.” Quoted from Lil Wayne

What is your 5 year plan for your music and for yourself?

I’m a simple guy so, Hopefully to truly inspire the youth to be themselves and to follow any dream they want because it’s possible we serve a big God. & to be financially free, and free in my spirit, enjoying life with the people I chose to have around, good energy people only.

What do you want people to takeaway from your music?

That I’m actually teaching something in my lyrics. I’m always dropping jewels somewhere in my songs.
