Jahmaiki on his musical aspirations and battle with depression

I met this artist while comment surfing through Instagram hashtags. (Just for the record I don't do that anymore; but yes, it was a weird time) Anyways, I was pitching him my services for artist consultations and he agreed and we talked about his music, his style, his rollout for upcoming projects etc.. and it just stuck. He gave me Bryson Tiller vibes, which was super dope to me but with his own twist. We continued to keep in contact and now here we are. Walk us through your background- Tell us more about you and your music

I’m jahmaiki, singer, rapper, & song writer, I’m from Houston, Texas, growing up with my Caribbean heritage. Grew up seeing my mother make music allowed me to know that I wanted to pursue music. Took time but over time, rapping and singing was my calling

What inspires you?

Music inspires me, and listening to those with knowledge.

What are some of the obstacles you've faced and how has it made you better?

Having depression, really changed my mind set, changed my whole life, it wasn’t something I or anyone asked for but at times it hinder me, I wasn’t creative, I felt drained, I felt as if I lost my self in sense. But through it all it taught me to stand on my own, made me more tuff and ready and willing to move forward

What is your 5 year plan for your music and for yourself?

My 5 year music plan, is continue to elevate, by 2021 I will own my own house, and I will have about 4 platinum records hanging on my wall, and for my self, continue to connect with my self. And continents to grow, you never know what the journey might bring

What do you want people to takeaway from your music?

What I want for anyone who hears my music is to take and feel comfortable with being themselves, and accepting there truths and feel to be honest, Especially on records where I’m more honest and more open.
