Walk us through your background- Tell us more about you and what you do

Cliche maybe, but I started singing when I was a baby practically. I sang in my grandparent’s church in Camden, NJ growing up, so my love for music began early on. I was listening to anything I could get my hands on it feels like. My grandma introduced me to the soulful sounds of the 50’s all the way to the 70’s. My mother introduced me to the 80s and 90s. R&B, Soul, & Funk quickly became my favorites. My family would always kind of tease about me having such an “old soul.” In terms of being an artist, It’s when I found Michael Jackson’s solo work, that’s when it really clicked. I saw the Remember The Time short film and knew what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I was studying all the greatest artists, Michael, Marvin, Toni, Brandy, Aretha, so many amazing artists that paved the way for artists like myself. Studying those greats helped create the artist that I am today.

What inspires you?

Life. In all honesty, life in itself inspires me. I can grab something from every day life, whether it be something I’m personally experiencing, or a loved one, friend, or random passersby, when we were outside. Life is inspiration. It helps me create

What are some of the obstacles you've faced and how has it made you better?

Gaining confidence in this type of work is always tricky. One day you may feel on top of the world, then something may fall through, or you’re unhappy with the quality of something you’re working on, etc. It’s a lot of ups and downs. Over the years I’ve gotten better at dealing with said obstacles. Usually it’s just a matter of taking a step back and breathing. I’m able to get out of my own head a lot easier these days which has made me a lot better I’d say.

What do you think makes your music different from other artist?

That’s tricky. I try not to feed into or create comparisons. But, one thing that’s certain is we all have our own stories to tell. There’s a different story tailored to our life experiences, a different approach, different feelings. So, I guess you could say what makes my music different is me. It’s all me.

It's important to give yourself credit; What do you feel is/are your biggest accomplishment(s) to date?

I’d say my biggest accomplishment thus far was gaining the courage to take opportunities more often. In doing so, about 2 years ago I placed myself in such a positive situation that afforded me the chance to meet some very influential people. I was able to gain a lot of knowledge from some industry veterans. I credit myself for initially taking that chance.

What are some things that you still want to accomplish?

Right now, I’m still in the beginning stages of my career. So, everything’s still being built from the ground up. I’d love to strengthen my support system. Right now I’ve got some amazing supporters, I’ve love to add to that. I’d also love to cultivate a successful team to grow with. At the moment, everything is in-house. I wear a lot of hats.

What new music do you have coming up?

Well, I actually just released my newest single called “Free Fall,” on June 19th. It’s available now on all your favorite streaming platforms. Aside from that, I’m always working on music it feels. I’ve got a few things that I’ve been putting together behind the scenes. I don’t want to say too much, too soon… but I can definitely say the music will be consistent.

What do you want people to takeaway from your music?

The reason I enjoy what I do so much is because there’s a lot of beautiful memories I have, tied to certain songs, certain artists. My music being able to have that sort of effect, I’d love that

Finally, If you had a message to give to any artist coming behind you, what would it be?

Believe in yourself. Really, you have to be your own biggest fan. I wish I’d learned that earlier on. Take the time to learn about the music you love. Me personally, I love to pull the music apart. I want to know who recorded it, where it was recorded, who mixed and mastered it, produced it…everything. Study everything, become the greatest learner you can be. Also, stay humble and be yourself.
