We got to tap in with South Florida artist NOSLEEPKB, as he talks about his journey as an artist and working with other artist. See what inspires him and how he's able to put it all together below.
Walk us through your background- Tell us more about you and what you do
I am a recording artist/entrepreneur born in Miami, raised in Lauderdale lakes, FL (South Florida) I inspire others to go after their dreams and to be themselves!
What inspires you?
Seeing people living their truth. Knowing that my art helps folks through difficult times. Seeing others lift up one another is inspiring to me.
What are some of the obstacles you've faced and how has it made you better?
One of the biggest challenges I’ve ever faced was showing myself that I really believe in me. I realized that production doesn’t always mean progression. After reevaluating my priorities I really started to get the ball rolling brand wise. I invest smarter now and more efficiently.
What do you think makes your music different from other artist?
I believe my musical diet has a lot to do with the sounds I create. I listen to a lot of trap music (Gucci, Jeezy, Future) but i mix with my abstract favs (Kid Cudi, Lenny Kravitz, and Michael Jackson). I enjoy taking my consumers on a rollercoaster of emotion when tuning into my music. It’s raw, authentic, and vivid!
It's important to give yourself credit; What do you feel is/are your biggest accomplishment(s) to date?
I’ve birthed a decent amount of Artists who are now established and have somewhat made a name for themselves. I’ve been awarded certificates for my work behind the scenes in my community. In 2017 I opened up for Taylor Bennett and Fetty Wap at the SunFest in West Palm Beach. I have 2 albums streaming worldwide on all major platforms and I’m the only artist from my city working with other local artists, bringing different cities, county’s and regions together
What are some things that you still want to accomplish?
It’s a dream of mines to open up a recording studio or three. Not your traditional setup though, a place for artists development to take place. I’d also like to have a hand in getting “financial literacy, real black history, and astrology” courses added to the curriculum at public schools nationwide.
What new music do you have coming up?
In the coming weeks me and my bro “Nick Yung” are releasing a joint project titled “247”. At the end of this month (July) I have a single called “NUMB” dropping, and right behind that I got visuals dropping to another single of my upcoming album [name still undecided].
What do you want people to takeaway from your music?
I want my music to encourage people to be themselves no matter what. I honestly don’t want people to “take” from music. I want people to hear my sounds, get inspired, and give my songs new meaning!
Finally, If you had a message to give to any artist coming behind you, what would it be?
Run your course, trust your process, remain open to suggestions but for the most part keep a tunnel vision. And “slow grind is always better than NO GRIND.”
