I met this guy a few weeks ago at an audition, the virtuosity one matter of fact (here) and this guy was larger than life LITERALLY. Im 6’2/ 6’3 so he had to be around 6’4/6’5. Anyways, he was a great guy with a very encouraging and positive personality. I decided to check in with him and learn more about him. Check out his full interview as well as his newest project “Soul Music” below:
Walk us through your background- Tell us more about you and your music
My name PR 2 NS stands for "Positive Reactions 2 Negative Situations" I was born in Pittsburgh PA, raised in Virginia, and I rep the Steelers, but here in Miami I have never felt more at home. Through the awesome friends, and artists that I've met here I was able to form who I truly was, I believe with a whole heart, PR 2 NS was born for me when I got here. Through my music more or less, my EP you see all sides of me. Ranging from my hyper-loud ADHD personality, to my roots and personal life. Soul Music is a direct personification of how I came to be who I am right now.
What inspires you?
To be honest, at different times I have different muses mostly personal trial, stories, or sometimes I just write to see if i improved, but my overall inspiration is to show any dreamer out there that if you push yourself hard enough there isn't anything in this world you cannot achieve. I have a lot more to go, but I am just enjoying the ride.
What are some of the obstacles you've faced and how has it made you better?
For me, I never had to struggle financially, I was fortunate enough to have both parents in my life, but I have faced depression and prejudice, I know how it feels to have relationships, and friendships that you held dear just come to an end. I know how it feels to be labeled outside of your name, and most of all I know how it feels to deal with personal demons as well, so when I say I want to be a light to others understand its only because I want them to know they aren't alone. But no matter the obstacle YOU decide to keep going. YOU decide that you want it. For at the end of the day, YOU can never cheat yourself out of your future, or your goals, no matter the obstacle.
What is your 5 year plan for your music and for yourself?
At this point in my career, I intend to keep working harder and harder everyday. So that in the next 5 years, I'm established in this industry, but I am still focusing on school to finish my education, so as far as a plan goes, it's to finish school then pursue my dreams.
What do you want people to takeaway from your music?
Mostly, I want people to be able to say they can connect with my music, but also feel a message behind it as well. I don't want to be caught up in the norm, but I would rather be unique. I feel the only way to truly make a name for yourself is to build a new foundation. Overall, I want everyone to be able to turn my music on, feel the vibes, and know its not your everyday mainstream material.
Where can people find your music?
ALL my music is on ALL PLATFORMS (Spotify, Apple, itunes, Amazon, Deezer, Tidal, YouTube etc.)
