Recently we were able to tap in with local Miami artist Sassy Singz. Tap in below to learn more about her

Walk us through your background- Tell us more about you and what you do

I am a singer, songwriter born in Miami, Fl. I’ve been creating music as SassySingz since 2009. R&B is where my passion lies but I love all kinds of music. I have had the opportunity to perform in Europe for a famous soccer players wedding, opened up for Betty Wright, Booby V, Elle Varner, Marsha Ambrosius, Kindred the Family Soul and more. My music video “Control” landed me on the “MTV Artist to Watch” list. I’ve won Best R&B artist awards from Best in Dade and Florida music awards. I’ve been blessed in many ways as a music artist but I also enjoy producing events like Trap Voices: Poetry Soul edition and others. I am now the program manager of the new podcast BTS Miami which is powered by SWIM Production Label. A prestigious film, tv and music video production company which is expanding to other avenues in the music industry. I really enjoy being behind the scenes and creating.

What inspires you?

My love of God is a major key in who I am. I’m a HUGE fan of 90’s music and there’s always a hint of the 90’s in my music. I produced a 90’s mixtape covering some of my favorite songs that is available on DatPiff.com and MyMixtapes.com.

What are some of the obstacles you've faced and how has it made you better?

Being a woman in this industry is huge obstacle. In an industry dominated by men, it’s hard to overcome obstacles. A lot of men want “favors” before helping you with anything and that’s even if you pay them. Being a black woman is even harder but I’ve managed to maintain my integrity and positivity through it all. Becoming Program Manager it BTS Miami is definitely a blessing as a result Of the obstacles I’ve faced. I’ve created a few other shows on other platforms like online radio and FM radio. It was tough and a lot went wrong. But all of that has landed me a prestigious position at SWIM Production Label for their BTS MIAMI show. Delay isn’t denial and you never know who’s watching

What do you think makes your music different from other artist?

I think the passion I bring lyrically and vocally allows my music to leave a big impression. We don’t talk about love anymore and I’m not known for following trends. So my music is usually focused on all aspects of love. Both good and bad. But I talk about things in my music too but R&B and love just go together lol

It's important to give yourself credit; What do you feel is/are your biggest accomplishment(s) to date?

I never really measure the accomplishments but maybe MTV artist to watch list and my music making it on Pandora back when it was a really difficult thing to do lol

What are some things that you still want to accomplish?

I’m hoping to write and/or work fwith some of my favorite artists like Mary J, Fantasia, Missy Elliott, Faith Evans and more. I’d like to go overseas on tour one day and open up for Teyana Taylor lol. She’s one of my faves right now.

What new music do you have coming up?

I’ve got a ton of music I haven’t released and I’m planning to release a couple projects soon. This pandemic has pushed back some of my plans but I’m hoping by the end of the year I’ll be able to release a new music video.

What do you want people to takeaway from your music?

I want people to have an experience with my music. Whether you’re inspired, angry, hurt or just sad...I want my music to bring some comfort, understanding, wisdom and etc. That’s the way I felt listening to the 90’s music. Tony Braxton, Mary J and more always dropped gems lyrically and vocally.

Finally, If you had a message to give to any artist coming behind you, what would it be?

Don’t get stuck in your habits. Be open to new people and experiences because it comes with the grind. Don’t wait on anyone, trust yourself and BELIEVE in yourself. Let the Most High handle the rest. You can’t make it in this game without faith.
