Today we got a chance to tap in with artist Ximone aka Lord Scorpio

Tap in with her below.

Walk us through your background- Tell us more about you and what you do

The first time i took singing seriously was performing in my high school talent show. I ended up winning in fact, and i can remember friends approaching me in the coming days and telling me they never knew I could sing, neither did I. I went to Nassau Community College studying Audio Engineering. I worked at Savage Sounds Inc. in West Hempstead, NY as an intern during college and shortly after had landed a songwriting gig for studio clientele. In 2018 I decided to start on the artist route released my first song with some other creative friends, Pivitone and Guest, titled 'No Guarentee'. I released my first solo song in March of 2019, 'Got Me Trippin', and within a year have had the honor to be recognized by Billboard and now have a featured article and was invited to the 2019 Billboard Women in Music Awards. This past April I released my first EP - Join The Club featuring 5 tracks depicting the origin stories of my alias Lord Scorpio. With Rnb, Pop, and EDM influences I deliver raw, truthful music as a way to cope with roller-coasters of life. I hope my listeners feel powerful when they hear my music and go on to be a badass!

What inspires you?

My lowest- lows and highest-highs, they are the foundation of my timeline and are freeing to song about. Musically, Rnb, Pop, and EDM heavily influence me. I love Dounia, Kiana Lede, Lucky Daye and more underground artists discographies.

What are some of the obstacles you've faced and how has it made you better?

I never really had access to resources. Producers, musicians, and videographers were things I couldn't afford. I was constantly writing and building my catalog but no way to lay anything down. Ive been writing since 2014 and didn't record one song until 2017. I didn't release one until 2019. I also had the opportunity open up for Ella Mai and H.E.R in 2018 at the Best Life Fest, but couldnt afford the flight there so I had to turn it down. I told myself after that that money would no longer be the deciding factor and have down everything I can to pursue my dreams with what I have.

What do you think makes your music different from other artist?

The honesty, and the craft. I've spent years perfecting my craft, from writing with artists, song competitions, The Voice, school etc. So I've really put in time and creative energy that the talent has become undeniable (still working on recognizing my own talent, lol). I also allowed myself to be exposed to so much music from varied genres, to the underground scenes.

It's important to give yourself credit; What do you feel is/are your biggest accomplishment(s) to date?

A few:

1. Getting into Berklee College of Music

2. The opportunity to open for Ella Mai and H.E.R

3. Being a contestant on Season 15 of The Voice

4. Billboard Magazine feature

5. Personal recognition from Hayley Kiyoko, Mahlia, Cautious Clay, Alicia Keys Mangaer and Nstatia

What are some things that you still want to accomplish?

Getting signed to a major record label, touring, building my core fanbase, releaseing an album, preforming at a major award show.

What new music do you have coming up?

Currently in the studio recording music and conceptualizing visuals for later this year. So much amazing new sounds coming to the people.

What do you want people to takeaway from your music?

I want listeners to feel powerful with the good and the bad.

Finally, If you had a message to give to any artist coming behind you, what would it be?

Be yourself! Cliche but so true. Listen to your gut, I spent so many years behind the curtain because I was afraid of how I'd be preceived but the moment I starting loving myself and being myself people recognized that and can hear/see/feel that in everything i do
