Pop Smoke - Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon

This is just a tribute. Usually I use this post for album reviews, but this one just doesn’t feel right. I’m more frustrated than anything. A young black man was supposed to be enjoying the success of his first album and he doesn’t get to do it. As he barely got to enjoy the release of his mixtape Woo 2.

2020 has been a hell of a year, as we all know, but I do appreciate black men taking the time to get behind this album to see it come to fruition. Shoutout to 50cent for executive producing this. Although I’m not sure about how the money will play into this. Not knowing if any money from this album will go to Pop Smoke‘s family or 50 cent, but I hope they do the right thing by him.

It’s sad to see black men lose their life, right in the midst of seeing their dreams being fulfilled. Although, I didn’t really listen to him before I also wanted to show my support for him. I was torn because I didn’t want to offer support if I never had the intention on doing it before, but also another young black male lost his life and for that, I have to show something.

Pop Smoke popped up on people’s radar, making the New York, Brooklyn drill sound stand out and take on a life of it’s on. At the age of 20, he was experiencing success that some people fight their whole life for.

I hope his family gets what they deserve, and I hope he’s at peace. RIP Pop Smoke
